LSBF Malaysia Students and Lecturers Develop Lifesaving Skills Through IKRAM Health and MyCHAMPION Community Training

Kuala Lumpur, 19 October 2026 – LSBF Malaysia continues to strengthen its commitment to experiential learning, community engagement and social responsibility as students from the Schools of Health Sciences and Business, accompanied by lecturers from the Academic Faculty, participated in the IKRAM Hero Community: CPR & First Aid Training held on Sunday, 18 October 2026, at Pejabat IKRAM Ampang Jaya.

The training also aligns with the objectives of MyCHAMPION (Malaysian Health Community Agent), an initiative introduced by the Malaysian Ministry of Health (MOH) under the National Agenda for Healthy Malaysia (ANMS). MyCHAMPION aims to empower community health volunteers to promote healthier lifestyles, strengthen public health awareness and encourage proactive participation in disease prevention and community wellbeing. Through education, outreach and volunteer development, the initiative seeks to build healthier, more resilient and socially responsible communities across Malaysia.

Throughout the programme, LSBF Malaysia students and lecturers gained practical knowledge of Basic Life Support (BLS), the Chain of Survival, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) procedures. Participants were guided through correct chest compression techniques, emergency response protocols and appropriate lifesaving interventions for adults, children and infants, including the management of choking emergencies.

A key highlight of the training was the opportunity for participants to apply their knowledge through interactive practical sessions. Under the supervision of experienced healthcare professionals, students and lecturers performed CPR exercises using training manikins, participated in AED simulations and practised choking rescue techniques. The programme concluded with practical assessments, a final examination and certificate presentations, reinforcing the importance of both theoretical understanding and practical competency in emergency situations.

“Education must go beyond the classroom to equip students with the knowledge, confidence and compassion to make a meaningful difference in society. At LSBF Malaysia, we believe that lifesaving skills are not merely an added competency, but a responsibility that every individual should embrace. Through initiatives such as this, we are nurturing a generation of graduates who are not only academically accomplished and professionally prepared, but also socially responsible, community-minded and ready to step forward when every second counts.”

Beyond acquiring technical skills, participants gained a deeper appreciation of the importance of emergency preparedness, teamwork and compassionate intervention. Students and lecturers expressed their gratitude to the IKRAM Health doctors, trainers and organisers for their professional guidance, recognising the value of being prepared to respond effectively when immediate action could save a life.

The organisers’ warm hospitality further contributed to a positive and engaging learning environment. Participants were provided with meals, refreshments and specially prepared goodie bags containing portable first aid kits, encouraging them to carry forward the principles of preparedness and personal responsibility in their everyday lives.

LSBF Malaysia extends its sincere appreciation to IKRAM Health, its dedicated medical professionals, trainers and organising team for their invaluable contribution towards delivering a meaningful and impactful learning experience.

This initiative further demonstrates LSBF Malaysia’s commitment to developing well-rounded, future-ready graduates through an educational approach that integrates academic excellence, practical learning, industry engagement and community responsibility. By encouraging students to participate in initiatives that create a positive societal impact, LSBF Malaysia continues to champion education that extends beyond professional achievement, empowering individuals with the knowledge, confidence and compassion to make a lasting difference in the communities they serve.
